Getting Ready for Kindergarten
Reading is at the heart of learning, and reading aloud helps children prepare for school success. "Getting Your Child Ready for Kindergarten" is a suggested list of books that will help families and early childhood educators easily find picture books that introduce basic concepts and skills.

The books are listed by the four core categories of the Virginia Standards of Learning and include alphabet books, counting stories, number books, stories about animals, weather, starting school and more. All of the books are available at the Virginia Beach public libraries.​
