Looking for a fun adventure to do with your family on the weekend? Try whale watching.

The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center hosts whale watching boat trips through mid-March on the following days/times:

Saturdays and Sundays: 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.

Thursdays and Fridays: 2:30 p.m.

Each trip takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete and is narrated by a trained Aquarium educator. Admission is $28 for adults and children ages 12 and older and $24 for children ages 4 to 11. Boats leave from the Virginia Beach Fishing Center at Rudee Inlet, 200 Winston Salem Ave.

You and your family will be able to watch these breathtaking humpback and fin whales in the waters just off Virginia Beach’s coast. They plummet toward the depths of the deep sea throwing their flukes upward out of the water with great force. Then in a flash, they’re gone.

Please note, sightings of whales on Aquarium boat trips are not guaranteed. If you miss them on your boat trip, see them up close in Dolphins and Whales 3D.in the Aquarium’s 3D IMAX ® Theater.
