Some of these skills, if not mastered at an early age, can hamper a child’s ability to read for the rest of his life. Library storytime classes are a great way to instill a love for reading in your child and build reading readiness. At Virginia Beach Public Library, we are committed to fostering early reading proficiencies. Our Every Child Ready to Read storytime classes, in partnership with parents, prepare children for a lifetime of reading success by empowering them with the pre-literacy skills they need.
Everyone loves a good story – especially kids! Storytime classes give them the chance to enjoy their favorite stories, as well as experience the thrill of discovering new books. Our storytime classes are so popular that we have placed trained Youth and Family Services teachers in eight of our nine branches so that we can provide more classes at each library.
