Temperatures have fallen and we’ve tucked away our bathing suits for the season. However, locals can still live the life at the oceanfront. In fact, it’s the perfect place for year-round family fun, especially with Aquarium activities.
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center and the City of Virginia Beach have a new kind of beach experience: “Brainwaves at the Beach.” The first in the Brainwaves series, the Marine Mammals exhibit features two interpretive panels that explain the wildlife off the coast and how human interaction may affect it. Two telescopes encourage beachgoers to look for dolphins, whales, and any other wildlife they might find along the beach. One of the telescopes is wheelchair-accessible.
Stop by and visit “Brainwaves at the Beach” at 16th Street and the Boardwalk to learn about marine life living off our coast. Be sure to look for dolphins, whales, and any other wildlife as you are walking along the beach. The goal is to create additional brainwaves exhibits including marine geology, wave science, and hurricane/climate change.
And don’t forget, if the temperatures are a little too frigid for your liking, head down General Booth Boulevard to the Aquarium. Have questions? Call at 385-FISH (3474) or visit www.VirginiaAquarium.com.
