Four to Six-Year-Old Immunizations
Make sure your child receives the following vaccinations: MMR, DTAP, IPV (polio) and Varicella.
- The MMR vaccine protects your child from mumps, a viral illness that can lead to meningitis, inflammation of the testicles or ovaries, inflammation of the pancrease and potentially permanent deafness.
- The DTAP vaccine protects your child from respiratory disease (whooping cough) caused by bacteria which can lead to airway obstruction, coma and death if not treated.
- The IPV vaccine protects your child from polio, a viral disease that can affect the nervous system causing paralysis, permanent disability or even death.
- The Varicella vaccine protects your child from chicken pox, a disease caused by a virus in the herpes family that can lead to bacterial infections of the skin, resulting in swelling of the brain and pneumonia.
